A moment to reflect

While away in Panama, I proposed to Nicole. Fortunately she said yes! Underneath a large tree next to the Pacific ocean I read to you in front of your family a poem. It had taken me a while to figure out how to ask you to marry me in a special way. Then I had the lightbulb go off inside my head. In the middle of the night I woke up from our cozy bed in our beachside room and sat outside on the balcony thinking of all the wonderful moments we've shared so far. I know you've written many poems, but have a difficult time sharing them with others. But you did share them with me. So in turn I opened up my soul and shared with you and your family how I felt.
This was not only to profess my love for you. But to show you how I am willing to jump beyond myself to give you what you need out of life. This poem is to show you that being open to others about what we feel is okay. No matter what anyone else thinks, I love you for you.

This is your poem.

MARRY ME! - May 26, 2008

From shore to shore we spread our wings
We've built special times and seen special things
But I'm hopeful for more times like this indeed
With family and friends and moments like these
You see, it's not only you, but your family too
That makes us fit like a foot in a shoe
So as the saying goes, if the shoe fits wear it
And I love both my shoes now, the kids and the parents
From the moment I met you, you were something incredible
By far the most soothing, poetic, loving and gentle
I will never give up my moments like this
They are locked in my mind like your sweet gentle kiss
So Nicole my love before I ask you this question
Are you ready to jump in and learn all of lifes lessons?
Are you ready to be number one on my list?
To be my wife and have lots of kids?
I hope you say yes because it's such a nice ring
Nicole Lalonde, you're the best damn thing!

I love you sweetheart!
